It depends on what you’re looking for. If you mean official iPhone apps, available at the App Store, and the ones that Apple promos on TV and in print, the answer is no.
But, if you’re willing to take a little risk and use apps not approved by Apple, the answer is yes.
You see, outside of the App Store (which requires Apple’s approval to get into), there’s a universe of apps that work with unlocked (aka jailbroken) iPhones (or iPod touches). These apps aren’t in the App Store for various reasons – quality, legality, doing things that Apple wants to prevent for one reason or another.
But, if your phone is unlocked, you can have access to both App Store apps and those available through competing app sources, like Installer.app/AppTapp and Cydia.
The important thing to remember here is that unocking your iPhone can mess it up and Apple doesn’t provide support for unlocked phones. So, before you dive into the world of alternative apps, make sure you understand and accept the risks.
